For some of them it’s a hobby to explore new trails, find awesome destinations, for other people it’s an opportunity to reunite with nature, get energy, relax and just derive inspiration from traveling.
General Information:
Hiking in North Cascades in Washington you can get incredible experience and explore the most wonderful and inspiring trails. Today our team wants to share its amazing experience of hiking the Skagit River trail on a warm, sunny fall day. It’s a fairly moderate 1.8 mile short loop trail that begins from North Cascades Visitor Center.
The Skagit River trail is an attractive family friendly trail for all skill levels along the Skagit River that will take you through the neighboring lush forest of cedar, hemlock, lots of moss and fern. You will be enchanted by the ancient and tall trees on both sides of the riverbanks.
The clear advantage of the trail is that it's mainly flat and you can take your children with you. It is accessible all year round. It’s nice to make a picnic by the river with your family, listen to soothing birdsong and soak up the fascinating scenery. Take in the enchanting views of the river and mountains.
Immerse in the atmosphere of peace and serenity listening to soothing sound of the Skagit River. Marvel at the extremely clear water and strong flows. The trail offers a diverse birdlife. You will encounter a plenty of salmon and other species of fish in the river. It seems as you can touch their fins with your hands, but fish are too fast. The trail is perfect for short family nature trips, walking, running or biking. Well, go on a hike and spend a wonderful day enjoying the relaxing views and sounds of the river.

Driving Directions:N 48 39.948 W 121 16.014
From Marblemount follow the North Cascades Highway (State Route 20) east for 14 miles to Newhalem. Turn right on the access road to the Newhalem Creek Campground and the national park visitors center. Cross the Skagit River, pass the campground booth, and in 0.25 mile come to a four-way stop. Continue straight ahead for 0.6 mile, reaching a large parking area for the visitors center. The trail begins behind the northeast corner of the center.
