The Seattle Aquarium is a great place for a visit with your family. It opens great opportunities to enjoy the underwater life. The aquarium is located on Pier 59 along the beautiful Waterfront of Seattle. It should be said that this place is not huge as many other aquariums, but it is a very interesting and breathtaking place for children.
This place is annually visited by 800,000 visitors, including a great number of students. Besides promoting marine conservation, the aquarium also conducts different researches on marine life. Here visitors will find six main exhibits such as Window on Washington Waters, Puget Sound Fish and Dome Room, Pacific Coral Reef, Puget Sound Orcas Family Activity Center, Life on the Edge, and Marine Mammals.
One of the most impressive exhibits is the Window on Washington Waters, which is situated at the entrance. This 120,000 gallon tank is home for native sea creatures from the Washington coast, including salmon, sea anemones, rockfish, etc. Visitors may also enjoy dive shows that are presented here daily.
I’m sure that your kids will love Life on the Edge exhibit. This exhibit is a nice tide pool with numerous marine life representatives that can be touched.
Underwater Dome is a unique exhibit that gives visitors an opportunity to enjoy a 360 degree view of Puget Sound marine life.
The collection of the aquarium includes different marine mammals such as sea otters, sea lions, fur seals and a huge octopus.
In September, guests can observe salmon that return to spawn.
School children enjoy great educational programs and themed visits that help to understand how everyday activities affect the waters of Puget Sound and what can be done to preserve it.
It is recommended to check the website for finding the information about the daily activities of the aquarium.
