This park is considered to be the largest in the city of Seattle and it is located on the territory of the former Fort Lawton. This park offers gorgeous views of the mountains and Puget Sound.

The park and the neighborhood were not correctly named by a Navy geographer. He wrongly identified Madrona trees as magnolias.
